John Imperial
Harmonica & vocals
Cutting his chops on the small clubs in and around New York City in the mid 1970s, John moved to Texas in 1982 and continued to mold himself into the fabric of Texas music. Playing harmonica, chromatic as well as diatonic, and singing both lead and harmony vocals, John is proud to work with this talented group of musicians.
Thomas Shaw
Keyboard & vocals
Thomas has been playing with 5 O’Clock Somewhere since 2017. He loves all styles of music that the band draws from, and is particularly passionate about 60s-era soul. His dream is to one day play shows night after night for dancing crowds.
Ben Aiken
Bass
Ben grew up in New Orleans, LA, where he played with members of the Funky Meters and moved to Austin in 2005 on the heels of Hurricane Katrina. A 20 year career in playing bass in Austin has included both original and cover bands.
Mindy Turner
Vocals & Flute
Mindy grew up in Napa Valley and picked up the flute in fifth grade, setting the course for a lifelong connection to music. After a few years in the Pacific Northwest, she eventually made her way to Texas, where she’s been rooted ever since.
Now based in Wimberley, Mindy is a regular presence in the community—whether she’s volunteering with the local Lions Club or playing shows around town. With the all-female Hill Country Honeys, she steps away from the flute and leans into guitar and drums. With Five O’Clock Somewhere, she brings the full range of her musicianship: clear, expressive flute work, lead vocals when needed, tight harmonies, and light percussion.
As the only woman in a band of seasoned Texas players, Mindy adds both spark and balance. Whether she’s sliding a flute line into a classic rock tune or locking into four-part harmony, she has a way of making the music land just right.
